Barentz publishes Corporate Sustainability Report 2025, demonstrating measurable progress and accelerated ESG impact
Hoofddorp, Netherlands, April 28, 2026 – Barentz, a leading global specialty ingredients solution provider, today announced the publication of its Corporate Sustainability Report 2025, highlighting continued progress across its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities and reinforcing its commitment to responsible, sustainable growth.
Building on the momentum of previous years, the 2025 report outlines how Barentz continues to embed sustainability at the core of its strategy and operations, while delivering measurable impact across its global value chain.
Accelerating climate action and operational performance
Barentz achieved a 33% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions since 2022, progressing toward its 35% reduction target by 2030. The company continues to expand renewable energy use and invest in initiatives such as solar installations and operational efficiency improvements.
Driving sustainable innovation
In 2025, Barentz advanced its sustainable product portfolio with the launch of upcycled food ingredients, converting agricultural by-products into solutions that reduce sugar and sodium in food formulations.
Additionally, Barentz hosted its second annual global lab innovation challenge, focusing on developing high-performance formulations with a strong environmental profile, including waterless solutions that reduce both emissions and water usage.
Strengthening responsible supply chains
Barentz reached a major milestone in 2025 by completing ESG assessments covering 80% of its supplier base by revenue, strengthening its sustainable procurement strategy. The company also confirmed alignment with evolving regulatory frameworks, including the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
Empowering people and communities
Barentz continues to prioritize its people and communities as a central pillar of its ESG approach. The company expanded its global ESG Ambassador program and hosted its largest-ever Global Day of Action, mobilizing employees worldwide to contribute to local community and environmental initiatives.
Progress was also made on diversity and inclusion, with women representing 23% of senior management and 37% of overall management positions in 2025, as Barentz works toward a target of 30% female representation in senior management by 2030.
Strengthening ESG governance
In 2025, Barentz enhanced its ESG framework with a CSRD-aligned Double Materiality Assessment, ensuring a focused and future-ready sustainability strategy, supported by GRI-aligned and third-party assured reporting.
As Barentz continues to expand globally, the company remains focused on integrating sustainability across all regions and operations, including the incorporation of newly acquired businesses into its ESG data and reporting framework. With a clear roadmap and strong progress in 2025, Barentz is well positioned to continue leading in sustainable innovation and responsible business practices.
“At Barentz, sustainability is not just a responsibility, it is part of who we are and how we create long-term value,” said Caroline van Nieuwkerk, Chief Human Resources Officer. “The progress outlined in this year’s report reflects the dedication of our teams worldwide and our commitment to driving meaningful change across our industry.”
Scott Simmons, Global Director ESG, added: “In 2025, we strengthened our commitment to responsible growth, deepened our environmental focus, and expanded our social impact. These achievements demonstrate how sustainability continues to drive innovation and resilience across our business.”
