Barentz is looking for a Regional Finance Director to lead and oversee finance activities across the Benelux and DACH regions (Central Cluster, EMEA).

About this role

Job Purpose

This role provides overall direction for all processes and teams associated with financial processes in the EMEA-Sub Region, by developing a short/mid-term financial strategy, delivering financial reports, improving policies and processes, and leading senior managers to ensure the financial strategy is implemented effectively. It will require some travel and flexibility.

Critical results

  • Provides business direction for all General & Corporate financial processes, such as: Sales order processing; Financial check; Payment procedure; Sales order processing: commission; Financial Control; Financial Planning & Analysis; Net Working Capital and Key Financial metrics (CCC, DSO, DPO and DIO), Cash flow; Investment Management; Tax; Insurance; Treasury; Internal control; Budgeting and forecasting.

  • Oversee within the scope of the Sub Region the budgeting and reporting, financial analysis and forecasting, cost and revenue management.

  • Manage on time and correct financial reporting and analyses, ensuring accuracy of financial records and compliance with Group accounting principles and regulatory requirements

  • Build partnerships to be successful in our matrix organization

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the overall business objectives.

  • Prepare and manage budgets for the involved countries within the Sub Region, including forecasting and monitoring budget performance.

  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and General Ledger.

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements and reports.

  • Monitor and manage cash flow, Working Capital, and Key Financial metrics (CCC, DSO, DPO, and DIO), and ensure that the company has sufficient resources to meet its obligations.

  • Ensure compliance in the cluster with all relevant laws/accounting principles, and regulations, including tax laws and financial reporting requirements.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and government agencies.

  • Give leadership to the local Finance Managers, providing coaching and development opportunities to ensure their professional growth.

  • Provide financial leadership and support to business leaders (divisions and functions) across multiple locations.

  • Ensures cluster and local management receive business reports on a timely basis with key insights and recommendations clearly highlighted. Supporting data is collected, analyzed, and communicated,

  • Recommendations to improve profitability and operational efficiency are made.

  • Make sure risk assessment is in place.

About You

  • Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

  • 14+ or more years of experience in a relevant field or related management experience

  • Multi-country experience

Skills/profile:

  • Manage Finance in a matrix that includes multiple teams led by Directors, Managers, and/or Team Leaders

  • Ownership of the execution of the functional strategy and the operational direction of the Department.

  • Problems faced are often complex and require extensive investigation and analysis.

  • Requires the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches, and the ability to communicate and influence executive leadership.

  • Fluent in English, Dutch/German/French is a plus.

Key behavioral criteria

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong understanding of financial systems and processes, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

  • Knowledge of financial laws/accounting principles and regulations, including tax laws.

  • Familiarity with local financial reporting requirements and tax laws.

  • Experience managing finance teams across multiple locations.
