About this role

The intern works closely with IT Operations, Security, and Service Management teams to identify gaps in asset visibility, validate management coverage, and update the central asset register. This role offers hands-on experience at the intersection of IT operations, security, and governance.

Key Objectives / Outcomes

By the end of the internship, the intern will have:

  • Identified the gap between IT assets connected to the network and those recorded in the asset register

  • Identified which network-connected IT assets are managed by centralized IT management tools (e.g., endpoint management, device management)

  • Identified which network-connected IT assets are managed by centralized security tools (e.g., endpoint protection, vulnerability management)

  • Updated and improved the accuracy of the central IT asset register with newly identified or corrected asset information

Key Responsibilities

Collect and analyse data from multiple sources, such as:

  • Network discovery tools

  • Endpoint management platforms

  • Security tooling (e.g., endpoint protection, vulnerability scanning),

  • IT service management (ITSM) / asset management systems

Compare discovered assets against the existing asset register to:

  • Identify missing, outdated, or duplicate records

  • Highlight unmanaged or partially managed devices

Categorize assets based on:

  • Asset type (e.g., laptop, server, mobile device, network device)

  • Management status (managed / unmanaged)

  • Security coverage status

Update the asset register with:

  • Correct ownership and device details

  • Management and security status

  • Supporting documentation where required

Document findings clearly, including:

  • Identified gaps and risks

  • Recommendations for improving asset visibility and management

Collaborate with IT Operations, Security, and Service Management teams to validate findings and align on remediation steps.

About You

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a program in IT, Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field

  • Basic understanding of IT infrastructure and endpoints, networks, and device connectivity, IT service management concepts (assets, configuration items, ownership)

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills

  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and structured information

  • Ability to document findings clearly and accurately

  • Enrolled in a Dutch University for the whole internship period.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with tools such as:

  • Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager

  • Endpoint security or vulnerability tools

  • ITSM platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, SMAX)

  • Interest in IT governance, security, or operational excellence

Supervision & Support

The intern will be supervised by experienced IT professionals and receive guidance throughout the internship. Regular check-ins will be held to track progress and learning objectives.
