About this role
Job purpose
The Commercial Business Analyst has a dual role. First, they act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams (data, IT), understanding business strategy, goals, and pain points, and translating them into actionable technical requirements, including KPIs, dashboards, and data structures. Second, the Commercial Business Analyst is responsible for producing actionable insights and reports that inform executive decisions.
The role collaborates with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Finance, and IT, to drive data‑driven decision-making and enhance commercial performance.
Key Responsibilities
Partner with business leaders to identify, prioritize, and shape initiatives that can be supported by data, analytics, or technology solutions.
Elicit, document, and validate business requirements, use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Prioritize requests, manage stakeholder expectations, and promote data literacy across
Collaborate with data scientists, data engineers, and developers to design feasible solutions aligned with business value.
Produce actionable insights, and reports that inform decisions and track KPIs.
Translate complex analytical results (e.g., models, dashboards, reports) into clear business narratives, KPIs, and action plans.
About You
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data/Analytics, or related field.
3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Translator, Product Owner, Data/Analytics Consultant, or similar role.
Proven experience working in cross-functional teams (business + IT/analytics).
Experience gathering and managing requirements for data, analytics, or digital/IT projects (e.g., dashboards, data products, process automation, CRM/ERP, AI/ML use cases).
Experience in producing actionable insights and reports that influence decision-making.
Technical Skills
Experience with BI / reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Looker).
Comfortable working with data in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, basic data cleaning).
Ability to interpret data, KPIs, and basic statistical outputs.
Understanding of data models, data quality concepts, and data governance principles.
Ability to write clear business and functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
Able to create clear specifications, mock-ups, and wireframes for dashboards, reports, or digital features.
Familiarity with common analytics and AI/ML use cases (e.g., customer segmentation, churn, pricing, forecasting).
Proficiency in creating process maps, user journeys, and use cases (e.g., using Visio, Lucidchart, Miro).
Experience with requirements management and backlog tools (e.g., JIRA, Azure DevOps, Trello, Confluence).
Basic understanding of databases, data warehouses, and APIs.
Soft Skills
Strong communication skills: can explain complex topics simply to both business and technical audiences.
Structured thinking and problem-solving; able to break down ambiguous problems.
High learning agility and curiosity about data, technology, and the business.
