About this role
This role is part of the European Barentz IT team and works as a member of a highly technical Infrastructure engineering team in the design, implementation, and execution of infrastructure network projects for Barents. Within the team, individual ownership and self-sufficiency are expected, as well as the ability to collaborate with remote colleagues. Among others you will:
- Participate in local and European-wide network and infrastructure-related projects in collaboration with project teams.
- Configure, install, and maintain network devices and services including, but not limited to, routers, switches, firewalls, VPN appliances
- Optimize existing network infrastructure, and contribute during planning, design, and implementation.
- Individually drive smaller projects, plan, and implement changes, advise on improvements, and replace network infrastructure components, ensuring stable operation and performance of company networks.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, standards, and documentation ensuring consistency.
Your job
We are looking for a true CCNA-level candidate although certification is a must. Are you an experienced and ambitious network engineer showing analytical thinking, strong initiative, planning skills, and solid but fair judgment? A team player able to prioritize work, learn new concepts, and, at times, multitask in a fast-paced environment. Do you enjoy solving technical challenges in complex environments and executing large-scale deployments with skilled professionals from multi-tiered disciplines?
About You
Required experience
- 3+ years of network support and engineering experience preferably in an international enterprise environment
- Experience in managing network devices, switches, and firewalls
- Fluency in written and verbal English
- Must have experience with:
- Providing Level 3 support and troubleshooting to resolve complex network connectivity issues
- Network capacity planning, network security principles, and general network management best practices
- Identifying risks in network infrastructure designs and proposing countermeasures
- LAN topologies including industry best practices
- ISO/OSI layers and protocols
- Static and dynamic routing especially with OSPF and BGP
- Concepts of DNS, DHCP, HSRP, VLAN, VRF, Port-Channel, QoS, VLT
- Watchguard Firewalls and Access Points
- Dell series N and S switches
- Configuring and managing firewall policies
- ITIL
- Vendor and ISP management
- MS Office package especially Visio
- Documentation writing skills
● Cisco Networking Hardware:
- Cisco Catalyst switches
- Cisco Meraki firewalls
- Cisco Catalyst Wireless Controller
- Cisco Catalyst Access Points
- Cisco DNA Centre
Knowledge and/or experience of the following is an advantage
- Azure Networking Services
- Infoblox, SolarWinds Orion, Service Now, Cisco ACS, NCM, or other mass-scale configuration changes software
- Security concepts such as NAT, VPN
- Hands-on experience in configuring routers/switches with Command Line Interface
- Exceptional customer support skills
● Experience with Watchguard and Cisco hardware:
- Firewall virtualization techniques
- Firewall mass management tools
- Network security troubleshooting (Cisco SecureX)
