As the business is growing, we are looking for a Commercial Counsel, based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands. The Commercial Counsel reports to the General Counsel and is a member of the Global Legal team. The Commercial Counsel we are looking for will provide business minded and pragmatic legal support on all commercial and claims related matters.

You will be the first point of contact, business partner to all internal stakeholders, and act as a project manager while working with external legal professionals within private practice.

Role description

  • Draft, review and negotiate commercial contracts, with a strong focus on sales and distribution agreements.
  • Provide legal advice and support in relation to legal claims and other matters.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and act proactively to minimize liabilities.

About You

Your experience and knowledge

  • Master’s degree in law preferably from a Dutch University.
  • Experience in commercial law and litigation within a European setting with at least 5-7 years of working experience at a law firm and/or as in-house counsel.
  • A broad experience across the spectrum of legal matters, with a focus on civil law, contracts (preferably experience with sales and distribution agreements), and corporate law.
  • Relevant knowledge of competition law or the willingness to specialize in it.
  • Experience with compliance and corporate governance is a plus and experience in M&A is nice to have.
  • Fluent in English and preferably Dutch (written and verbal), 3rd European language is a plus.
