REACH
The Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals Regulation (REACH) came into force on June 1st 2007. Reach requires registration of all chemical substances placed on the EU Market in quantities above 1000 kg/year. By pre-registering existing substances on the EU Market the timeframe for registration is extended. Depending on substance volumes, the registration period is extended to a minimum of 3.5 to a maximum of 9 years. The pre-registration window is of limited duration; it is open as of June 1st 2008 and is closed on December 1st 2008.
As an importer and downstream user of chemicals, Barentz fully understands its obligations to its customers under Reach. We fully recognize the importance for our customers to develop inventories of the products they purchase in order that they can assess whether there may be any registration requirements to be fulfilled. We can assure our customers that Barentz is actively involved with our suppliers in order to have a recent Reach status of all our suppliers.
After the 1st of December 2008 the registration period will start. Barentz will work with our customers and other downstream users to properly document end uses and exposures associated with our products so that these uses and exposures can be included in the registration process.
