Food Ingredients China 2010
March 23–25 the Food Ingredients China 2010 will be organized in the Shanghai Everbright Convention and Exhibition Centre (SECEC) in China. FIC is the largest food additives & ingredients trade fair in Asia. Barentz will participate in this fair.
Protein-rich food in stride against obesity
Nine companies and universities have joined forces in combating obesity. They will develop and produce healthy food products and ingredients that are rich in protein, and then introduce these in properly monitored diet programmes. To determine individual diet prescriptions, a test based on biomarkers will be developed.

On September 23rd we received the sad news that our founder Mr. Herman Barentz has passed away quietly at the age of 86.

Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients (AAFI) a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), has entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Barentz in Bulgaria and Romania effective April 1, 2009.
Barentz sets up operation in Serbia
Barentz Europe BV announces the opening of its 19th European entity in Belgrade, Serbia, serving Serbia and the other former Yugoslav states. Barentz is already active in these countries notably form its operations in Bulgaria, Czech Republic and Hungary. With Barentz D.O.O. Barentz becomes Aqualon's exclusive distributor in the Netherlands for the food industry
As of April 1st 2009, Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients, a division of Ashland, has appointed Barentz BV as their exclusive distributor of food ingredient products in the Netherlands. The scope of the cooperation between the two companies concerns all Aqualon’s cellulose based food ingredients which are used in a large variety of applications in the food industry, like dairy, bakery, convenience food, beverages etc.
AB Enzymes, Barentz confirm strong partnership in European Food Enzyme Distribution
AB Enzymes and Barentz have signed an agreement that makes Barentz the preferred distributor in Europe for AB Enzymes’ Baking and Food & Specialties divisions. The agreement entails a continuation of current representation in most European countries, as well as an expansion into new territories.
NOVOLYTE Technologies appoints BARENTZ as European distributor
Effective February 1st, Novolyte Technologies has entered into a new Master Distribution agreement for all of Europe with Barentz Europe, a Netherlands based distributor of specialty chemicals. The Master Distribution agreement is designed to replace the existing temporary distribution agreement with Ferro, which was provided as part of the sale of the Fine Chemicals business to Novolyte Technologies.
